Happy Memorial Day!!!

Hi friends!   Here is a quick post to let you know that I am still alive!

I have my high school friend from San Diego visiting with her family this weekend.
We are having a great time playing tour guide.

We have been sampling foods from Missouri, so last night I made Gooey Butter Cake.

It is 7 kinds of sinfully bad!  But here is the super easy recipe!

We are off to for a canoe float trip down the Gasconade River!
Wish us luck!

  1. You are the only person I know that has had this!!! We went to St. Louis a few years ago and went to Gooey Louie's to try the cake. So yummy! Did you like it?

  3. It's an Arkansas thing too. Only we put chocolate chips in ours. After you add the cream cheese mixture we sprinkle in chocolate chips. YUMMY!!

  4. Wow, we are closer than I thought! I live across from St. Louis, in Illinois. My mother-in-law makes me gooey butter cake every year for my birthday. Between that and the gooey butter cookies at Dierberg's, I'm set. :)

  5. Oh honey... I make a pumpkin gooey butter cake for Thanksgiving... Spice cake mix base and pumpkin pulp in the goo. I also make a YUMMY peanut butter version. I have made it with a chocolate cake base, as well as topped with bananas (but that's the Elvis version). I had a friend make a toffee gooey butter cake. I've also tried strawberry, but that was not my favorite. I think gooey butter cakes are just a southern thing. :)
