Peek at my Week-Penguin Style! + FREEBIE

Here is what has been happening with me.   Downton Abbey!   Seriously!   I have the 2nd season through Amazon Prime.  I have been watching it while working on my couch to 10k training (treadmill).  It helps the time pass and if I turn it up REALLY loud, it drowns out the sound of me sucking wind!

I've made a few updates!

I often hear, "I have a word wall, but my student's don't seem to use it."   This is how I make my word wall interactive.   My students use the word wall with purpose on a daily basis. This whole group instruction takes about 15 minutes each day (you are moving fast) and it is a way for me to reinforce handwriting!

Whatever you use, be sure to make your word wall interactive.  It is easy for word walls to turn into wallpaper.

I added a bunch to this product. You can get the update at no additional charge.

I have also updated these two files so you can add your own words.

Again, these were created a year ago, so you can get your updated version for no additional fee.

During our Christmas break I made new journal covers for our Math Journals and Poetry Notebooks.  So here is a little FREEBIE for ya!

Before I close, I have heard from a lot from people who ask advice about starting a blog and a TpT store. Thank you for trusting me with your questions. I think I have answered everyone, but I had thought about making a post about it.  Then I read Erica Bohrer's post and I thought she gave some great tips.  You can read that post by clicking on this cute picture!

My 2 cents?... blogging should really be for you!  This is a place for you to plan out loud, share discoveries, and reflect on your teaching practice.  It is wonderful to collaborate with other teachers and see classrooms outside of your community.  I love reading everyone's comments (and I DO read EVERYone), but when I first started out 2 years ago, my husband was my only follower... Ha!

Anyhow, if you are starting out, don't be discouraged.

Here are my lesson plans for next week.

  5. Wow, I was just watching Downtown Abbey last night. I kept hearing about it so I thought I would give it a try. I loved it! Good thing I am off another week to get caught up!

I just love that you can edit your products! I was able to put in the HFWs we will be working on once we get back and I ran out of ink, bummer. I am off to Costco to get mine ink refilled and back to printing. I love it all!

I was looking over your lesson plans and thought to myself...if only I could keep myself organized like Deedee. I need to keep my plans simple and focused, I shall give them another try!

    THanks once again,
    Pat

    1. Thanks Cheryl, mine is on my whiteboard with magnets. My kiddos can go up and take the words off and bring them to their desks. It was hard to give up one of my whiteboards, but I am really glad I did.

  10. thanks so much for the lesson plan post! We are revamping our language arts program; you, Deanna J, and Kim A have been so helpful with your wonderful products! I am the lone k teacher at my school, so your plans and products keep me from reinventing the wheel all the time! thank you so very much!

  11. Thanks so much for the comment about when you started your blog. I started a blog earlier this week and very quickly got discouraged (my only followers to date are my husband, mother-in-law, and a teacher I work with). I am still not sure if it will take off, but it least knowing that you started off the same way makes me feel a little better. I love your blog and have bought many things from your TPT store. I don't have the talent to create the wonderful things you do, but I think my blog will be a good place for teachers to talk and brainstorm together. Thanks Again. Erica

  13. Thank you for posting your visual lesson plans! I love it! I was very excited to see another teacher out in blog land who uses Saxon Math. That is what we use in our district as well. It also made me happy to see that you are incorporating other math components to it like a journal and math stations. I do the same thing!

    1. I know... I think I actually have my husband hooked too. It is a world that I really don't know much about, so it is fascinating to listen to all of the etiquette.

Good for you! Blogging is such a fun addiction for me. I hope you are enjoying every minute of it!

  17. on your word wall do you just have the sight words or do you put the word family words there too? If you don't, then do you list them somewhere else in the room?

  18. Isn't it just devine! I got Season 2 shipped out from the USA on DVD, and it worked up until the last episode! It was torture, as we didn't get it on DVD here in Asutralia until months later... I had to wait 5 weeks for TV to catch up! Love it too! Goodness knows how long we will have to wait for season 3... I will have to get around to learning how to watch/download TV on the internet.

  19. I Live-tweeted during Downton Abbey this past Sunday eve and it was So Much Fun! I found seasons one and two on Hulu last summer; watched the entire thing in two days! (and each episode many times over since) Bless Edith, she is the original Jan Brady!

Your weekly plans look amazing--I like the new layout!
