Somehow I turned around and my little baby boy has grown up. Today he went to the prom with this lovely young friend... So I had to share with my blog friends. I am so proud of the young man he is growing up to be.
I spent the day doing a little of this and a little of that. I did finish these in the past 24 hours... It is a miracle!
Thank you all for the suggestions. I included themes around picnics/bbq, oceans, zoos, and moms!!!
I have been mentally working on my May Writing Work Stations. My students and I have been brainstorming on which words we want included in it. We decided we needed lots of mom-ish words AND we HAVE to have a card for mom. I thought I would ask you all too... Which words or themes are you wanting for May?
I feel like I am running a race lately. I know you all are feeling it too. I have a gazillion photos on my camera and phone, but I am not sure I will get them posted. I have been scanning my kiddos writing (wee) and I will try to get those posted too.
This week I enjoyed two days of visitors from another district. 8 teachers came and spent the day in my room. We had fun watching kiddos and talking about kindergarten. The best part about visitors is they make me even more reflective. Thank you ladies!
Also this week... Mr. Wills has finally had his knee surgery after his Christmas skiing injury... Yay! His skiing career (such as it was) is probably over, but he should recover quickly! So Florence Nightingale has been busy!
Hang tough teachers... There is a light at the end of the tunnel . It is called summer. If the light turns out to be a train, be ready to jump!
In writer's workshop we are going to work on some good endings. Some of my students are ready for this (and have been ready for this). My plan is to start by revisiting some mentor texts, then revising some the books I had made over the last few months. We will look to see which have good endings and perhaps write a few new ones.
We will be learning about the adorable insects in this resource. I love this one! It is filled with great informational texts and the projects are too cute.
The fabulous Mrs. Jump also has a great emergent reader you can get for FREE.
Here are some riddles you can use as part of your morning message. These are great for inferential thinking.
Without further adieu... here are my plans for next week.
We have 19 more school days left. This leaves me with nothing short of panic! Are they ready? Have I done enough? Have I done too much? Will their 1st grade teacher love them like I do (yes, I am sure they will)?
The other part of my panic is I am simply too fat for summer!
It is time to celebrate some sweet, sweet kindergarten writing. This one tugged at my heart today... so I had to share it with you!
This was done independently without any conferring from me. When I read it, I just sort of froze and got that goose bump feeling that is priceless. This young lady didn't just tell us that she loves her cousin, she showed it with her words.
Miss P you make me proud!
You will notice that I changed my writing paper. My OCD kicked in and I was struggling with the messiness of just plain paper. I hope Katie Wood Ray does not come after me!
If your OCD is kicking in and you want this writing paper... click here.
I want to send this post link to her mom. I bet she would like to read your kind comments!
We have 5 weeks of school left, but my mind is all over the place. I had planned to make Math Work Stations to go with the five senses, but here it is Sunday and I don't have one thing to show for it. So this week, my stations will not match my content area... GASP! I am sure my kiddos will survive. They may even thrive because of these stations I have found.
Our weather in Missouri has been typical... which means it is all over the place. I swear I saw Noah at Home Depot because we got THAT much rain.
Therefore, I am having weather themed stations this week.
These are the two resources I will be using.
Here are my plans...
One other thing...
I have added this page to each of my Writing Work Stations. They are updated at TpT clear back to November. You can get your updated copy by going to "My Purchases".
If you have not bought these yet, you can get them on sale today.
I hope everyone stays safe today. I know tornadoes have been in the news and are in the forecast again today.
