Last week we had a great time with our 3rd grade buddies. We did pumpkin investigations!
Each student brought in their own pumpkin.
Students measured the circumference.
Documenting our data.
We made predictions then tested them out. Yep! They float!
We only cut into my large pumpkin to count the seeds.
Ewww... we counted seeds. Students each counted 10 seeds into a portion cup. Then we counted by 10's to see how many.
I have updated my Thanksgiving Math Work Stations Unit. It is now twice as large! You can download the updated version at no additional charge.
Here are some pictures of what I have prepared for the next few weeks.
We are also going to use our math game from last year! Sorry for the blurry picture!
I also have my shared reading ready for next week!
Here are the sorts that go with the above poem.
You can find these in the November Shared Reading and Poetry Station Unit.
Here are my lesson plans for next week. I have some repeats because I totally spaced out on a few of the other things we did last week. It put me behind and we never got to somethings...
You will have to hunt around for a few FREEBIES in here:)

Hi Deedee!
ReplyDeleteI love this post!!!!! Great ideas, and I can't wait to purchase this unit. I live in one of the areas in NJ that was the hardest hit by the hurricane, and we just got our electricity back...so...I am catching up on my blogs that I missed so much reading the past week! My school is not opening for a bit so I am gathering all of the idease I find so that I can get my little ones happy about coming back to school!
Thanks for some great ideas!
Robyn
Robyn... will you email me?

I would love to help you out some!
Deedee I would like to purchase the unit for Robyn. I have family back east and I know how tough it is. I am doing my part with the red cross but thought it may bring a smile to Robyn in this tough time. Please tell me how I can get the unit to her. I figure I can buy it twice and then send it to her?????
DeleteYou and I are on the same page! I just sent her a bunch of stuff! I will email her though to tell her of your sweet, sweet offer.
DeleteTeachers are the BEST!!!!

ReplyDeleteAs always you are amazing. I just love to look through your plans!
Yes... Reagan AND I was almost done. I'm not sure how I managed to do it, but I bet it had something to do with my family asking me questions. This is what happens when you try to rush! ha!
DeleteYour visual plans are SO cool! Does it take forever to format them like that?? It's such a useful and fun thing to look through. Thanks for putting them up! By the way, I LOVE using your Writer's Workshop units in my classroom--one of my all-time favorite TpT purchases.

ReplyDeleteThank you for posting your plans. They are such a great resource! I am always checking them out while I plan. :)
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love the turkeys! Can't wait to make them for my little ones. I was trying to make visual plans for my centers...and I was wondering how you get the pictures in there and which program do you use to create them in?

Hi Terri... I make my plans in Power point. I use my snipping tool to grab the graphics to add into my plans.
DeleteI love your website. Even though I teach first grade, I use tons of your ideas. I have a question concerning your literacy stations. When you make your stations, do you run them off on regular paper or cardstock before laminating and cutting out. Does your school provide the color ink or do you pay it on your own? Thanks for answering and thank you for your inspiring ideas.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara!
DeleteWe do not have a school provided color printer, so I print and do most of my laminating at home. I use the school's lamination for items that are longer than the 8 1/2 by 11 size (like the poetry strips).
I print on card stock, laminate, then cut them out :)
Deedee,
ReplyDeleteI have been following your awesome plans for sometime now. I see this week u are not doing foundations? Have you complete the Unit or are you not planning on doing this program anymore. I would love to talk to you more about what you do in your classroom. You are amazing!!

Molly Wendel
