Deedee love your math prompts. Thanks for the freebie and the opportunity to win the bundle. One of the things I do with my kiddos in their math/science journals is given them a post it to mark the page we are working on, and they use it as a little flap/tab to find where they should begin working the next time, as they move the post it to the next available page when they finish their page for the day. I teach 4K and they are easily able to keep track of their pages, and if for some reason they fall off or get lost in our bucket of journals I just give them a new one. I tried using binder clips as page markers but my little kiddos had a hard time making them work, maybe the K5'ers would be able to use though or even an oversized paper clip to mark their page. Thanks again for the good ideas.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Post-its are the BEST! I agree, I think binder clips would be a challenge. One teacher I know shows the kids how to fold the page over to mark their last page used.
DeleteLoving those journals. What a great idea to bundle it :) Thanks for the chance to win such a great pack.

These are fantastic!! I really hope I win them because I am dying to do something like this in my classroom. If I don't win, I am definitely buying it! How many prompts are there? Enough to do one each day? These would be great to print on labels and then the kids could just stick it right into their journal without having to get the glue out!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley,
DeleteSorry you did not win... but there are enough for each day. I created 25 prompts for each month. I print them all on regular copy paper (because I am cheap and they are not really formatted for labels). Then I pick the ones I want to use. We don't use them all in a month, but I try to spiral them back around so the students continue to review previous skills taught. I hope that helps!
Thanks for sharing the preview with us.
ReplyDeleteLove these journals!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I need to do something like this with my first graders. The freebie sample looks great!

Hi!!!!! What a great opportunity....Hope I am the lucky one!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance!
HI!!! I was just talking to my parent volunteer at the end of the school year saying that I wanted to start something like this and have her start helping out right away at the beginning of the year so she can start putting the journals together somehow!! This would be a perfect thing to do!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie,
DeleteSorry you did not win, but these are super easy to set up. Just glue the cover to a spiral notebook and you are done! The students glue their own prompt in as you go.
Thank you!!! I will be trying these out... :)
DeleteAm I too late!?? Thanks for bundling them! They are now in my cart :)

Owl Things First
Hi Jenny, I have a lot of 1st grade teachers who say they like my journals, but I really had kindergarten in mind when I made them. I know that Anna Brantley (1st grade) has some that are set up the same way. She has bundled them too. I hear they are wonderful. How about you email me? owens65066@gmail.com
DeleteI agree...HOW DID I MISS THIS? Yesterday was our church/family day, and I agreed not to get distracted by the computer. What a bummer I missed this...I've been considering this purchase. I used them last year, and the kids loved journaling for Math! Have a great summer!
ReplyDeleteI nominated you for One Lovely Blog Award because I think your blog is....lovely!

Owl Things First
OMG!!! I love your math journals!!! I have been reticent about creating them for kinders because I could not figure out how to do it without making a million copies. I am going to add them to my wishlist right now!
ReplyDeleteOne question though...did you use spiral notebooks or composition notebooks?
