Lesson Plans-Bugs

Here are my lesson plans for next week.

In writer's workshop we are going to work on some good endings.  Some of my students are ready for this (and have been ready for this).  My plan is to start by revisiting some mentor texts, then revising some the books I had made over the last few months.  We will look to see which have good endings and perhaps write a few new ones.

We will be learning about the adorable insects in this resource.  I love this one! It is filled with great informational texts and the projects are too cute.
The fabulous Mrs. Jump also has a great emergent reader you can get for FREE.

Here are some riddles you can use as part of your morning message.  These are great for inferential thinking.
Without further adieu... here are my plans for next week.

We have 19 more school days left.  This leaves me with nothing short of panic!  Are they ready?  Have I done enough?  Have I done too much?  Will their 1st grade teacher love them like I do (yes, I am sure they will)?

The other part of my panic is I am simply too fat for summer!
Oh! My! Goodness!

Have a great week!

  1. I totally get your panic- not much time left and have I taught them enough?? Happens every year! And no- I'm sure you are not too fat for summer (but I understand that one too)!

    1. Thank you Whitney! This was my least favorite subject to teach a few years ago. As soon as I made it about what they wanted to write and less about what I wanted them to write, things turned around. Last week we had lots of schedule craziness and we had missed a day of writing. My kinders wanted to know if we could skip recess so they could write... I had duty...so sadly... we did not.

I hope over the summer and next year we will have many more blog conversations about writing!

  7. I am totally with you! Freaking out about how few days of kindergarten are left and about how I can possibly fit into summer clothes! I am excited to have some time over the summer to plan out some new ideas for my writing workshop next year though-we should definitely do a book study on writing!

  10. So I have 37 days left and am starting to panic so no telling how I will be at 19 days left. As far as the summer weight thing. Thought I would share what myself and some other teacher friends have been doing. www.myfitnesspal.com there is also an app for it to use on smartphones. I have lost 16 lbs and my coworker has lost 20 lbs since January. just thought I would share what is working for us. We both had trips to warm sunny places last week which is why we started in January. Happy last 19 days of school to you!

  13. Are you going to create a writing station for May? I would certainly buy it! My students are very motivated by the cards, etc and it is a great vocabulary opportunity for my ESL students.

    1. Yes! Yes! Yes! I am going to make May. I am so behind. Mr. Wills had knee surgery this week so it has thrown my "me" time off... Florence Nightingale has been busy! I hope to start it tonight and get it posted by Saturday!
