A little of this and that

So, my family decided to all meet up in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a ski Christmas vacation!  What a beautiful place. My sister and her husband joined us from San Diego.  My parents were there...
Sounded like a great plan until...

Yep! Dear Mr. Wills broke his leg and got to ride down the hill in the "special sled".

Mr. Wills and I left early and we (I) drove 16 hours back to Missouri to see the orthopedic specialist today.

Anyhow, the gem in this story is... With 16 hours behind the wheel my mind had a chance to wander.  I thought up a new activity/game for my kiddos to use for initial sounds.

Once I got home from the doctor's office today and got Mr. Wills comfy
I  finished my Writing Work Stations for January.

  16. Oh no! I'm so so sorry to hear about your husband's leg. I hope he is in good spirits, as good as they can be in this situation! Your activities look great and the Penguin's Vacation would be a perfect fit for my upcoming penguin unit. Too bad I promised myself no more TPT or Teacher's Notebook purchases for awhile. I spent way too much this Christmas, but I enjoyed spoiling my family!! So it was worth it!

  17. I know I didn't make the top 5 but I still wanted to wish Mr Willis a speedy recovery. Last year all 6 of us had the flu (Influenza B) on Christmas so I know what it's like to have to change Christmas plans.

  18. Thanks to all of you. Mr. Wills is adjusting well to being waited on... uh-oh!

Anjanette, Influenza B? All 6 of you? Ehhh! I hope your Christmas was better this year.

  23. Guess What!! Mr. Deramus tore his Patella Tendon on our first day of skiing in Crested Butte, CO! He had surgery yesterday to repair it and I am sitting with him in the hospital room as we speak! We had a lovely Christmas too! He actually broke it on his birthday to top it off! And my birthday is New Years Eve! So we will BOTH have a lovely birthday! :( I hope Mr. Wills is doing better!!!! Super excited about the Jan. Math Journals! My kiddos love it!

  24. Oh no!!! Poor Mr.D! To add insult to injury your birthdays have been shot!:-(

We almost went to Crested Butte. They could have shared an ambulance!

It looks like Mr. W has some ACL damage and surgery is in our near future.

I bet orthopedic surgeons LOVE skiing... Job security (just kidding).

  26. So sorry to hear about your husband.
I was chatting all about your blog to my husband on our drive back from Montreal. I was relaying all the cool things on your blog and my regret for not purchasing your December writing center pack. So when I read about the January pack I was OVER JOYED! Thanks for all your blogging and TpT products. Happy (& Healthy) New Year!

  28. Sorry to hear about your husband's accident! How unfortunate for him...and you (16 hours driving is a LONG time). :( Love the new packets. My kids love doing the math journal (which is new for me this year) and are quick to remind me when it is math time. :)
