I am sure you have already explained this, but I was wondering. Do you change your math and literacy stations weekly? If so, how do you have time to train them? Or do you teach the materials one week and then they do them in a station the following?
Hi Lorna! I change most of my stations each week. However, if you look at my stations, my students are doing similar tasks. For example,one week they are comparing numbers with a Thanksgiving theme, the next week they are doing it with a Gingerbread theme. If I tried to introduce 10 new tasks a week, I would go crazy and I don't think the learning would be that good. I think their best learning happens when they over practice a skill.I find by keeping the task familiar, the students need minimal instruction to take off. If you have not built your math stations this way, you may need time to go in this direction.I try not to have them do more than 2 totally new tasks/activities a week. Ohh... I hope I did not confuse you... shout back if I did.
