Advanced Students

I have been thinking about my advanced students this morning.  Do they really need to spend their time over learning to recognized their alphabet?  I mean, these are the kiddos who came into my classroom knowing all their letters and sounds.  They simply are ready for more.

So I put together a fall themed CVC game.  This is the same format as my ABC games, so my kiddos already know how to play it.  I am planning on introducing this game to my advanced group during my small group.  I will let you know how it goes.

First grade students can use this as a great review!

  2. What a great idea! Providing a challenge for my more advanced kinders is one area that I really need to work on in my stations.

  3. Does your Kinder mind ever turn off!! I just bought your October Math Journal Prompts and Fall Math packet and now I want to go back and buy your Fall CVC game!! I can't keep up!! I just got back from Staples!! Out the door I go again!! I teach at a small Catholic School in Florida and many of my students do come in knowing their letters and sounds and I am always trying to challenge them!! This will definitely help!!! Thanks!! You are a Master Teacher!!!! Wow!!

  4. Shannon... seriously... it doesn't. I am always thinking about it. My husband could be in the middle of telling me something (probably important) and I'm thinking about phonological awareness... It is scary! This jumped into my head at 6:00am... on a Sunday?! Lol!

It is a blessing and a curse. Thank you for your kind words!

  5. It looks great! I have a few of your games for cvc words, and they are my students favourites :) Are you finding the gap between less and more able students widening? I am finding it a constant challenge to cater for all the different abilities!
