Math Work Stations Blog Party Chapter 7 Geometry AGAIN!

As promised... Here are a few more of my reflections on Geometry.

Debbie Diller suggests having your kiddos go on a Shape Hunt (p.165).  My students LOVE doing this with magazines.  I start them out hunting for various colors at the beginning of the year.  Once they understand the process, we can move onto shapes.

Another suggestion was to go on treasure hunt using positional words... LOVE this idea.  I created a little FREEBIE.  You can hide the "backpack" in your classroom.  Then place the clue cards around the room.  I have never tried this, but I imagine they will love this activity.

News FLASH!!!!  The very SMART Virginia suggested the students could draw the route the students take to find the backpack!  BRILLIANT!!!!!

If you enjoyed this free download, you may want to "follow me" on TpT.  You will then be notified every time I post a new item.

Thank you Mrs. Patton for hosting this week's chapter!  You will want to go to her page to see her AMAZING post!  Isn't it great to have such smart blog friends?

  4. Can someone please give me the schedule again. The Wallow fire has totally decimated my summer. I was evaced for a week and then put on pre-evacuation again when I had been home for 4 days. I really wanted to do this. Now the life is finally settling down. The smoke is cleaned out of my house, etc.

Thanks to anyone who can help me.

  5. Thanks for the shout out! It is amazing all the ideas we can come up with when we put our heads together! Just another reason we need to do another book study soon. Virginia

  6. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas you've shared during this book study. You are an inspiration and I am so glad to have found you and your blog!

  7. Sass Class, I'm sorry to hear about your blazin' summer! How scary!!!

  8. Thank you, Deedee. The fire came within one mile of my house. I am going today to help a fellow teacher fill sandbags for his home. Now we get to worry about flooding from the summer monsoon. Who knows what this has done to our watershed!!!

  9. Love, love, love it!! Thanks so much! You always have great ideas!

  10. Love the idea of a shape hunt! And my language-delayed students with hearing loss would really benefit from that backpack activity ;)

PS: I'm having a giveaway over here:

  11. Hi DeeDee! You just found my blog (ateenytinyteacher) and invited me to check out yours. I am your new follower! Your blog is adorable!
