Greetings from The Big Easy!

So... I am here in New Orleans with my family to honor my husband who is one of the 2010 Naval Officer of the Year recipients.  I am so proud of him!  I decided to leave my laptop at home, but then I saw THIS!
Pete the Cat!!!  So in I went!
More of James Dean's artwork!

Then around the next corner...

I love this book.  I went in to see George Rodrique's artwork!

So, I borrowed my husband's laptop for a quick blog fix!

Don't you love Blue Dog?

  1. Wow! That's such an honor that your husband was the Naval Officer of the Year. My brother is a Naval Officer and I know that it must be wonderful for the whole family! How many different states have you taught in? (I'm assuming you have moved around a lot being a Navy family.)

  2. Wow! What a fabulous honor for your husband! As I viewed your pictures, the teacher in me could only think of what a great venn diagram this would be; comparing both books. Hmmmm...I feel an idea. Thanks. :)

  3. Sylvia... Great idea!

Jess, my husband is a Reservist (although, his Navy responsibilities are a 24/7 sort of thing). We have just lived in San Diego (ny home town) and Missouri.

We are all so proud of him!... I bet he makes be delete this post!

  4. Deedee - Don't know how long you will be in NOLA, but George Rodrique is having a show at NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Arts). My parents live in NOLA and my sister use to work at NOMA. I'm going to visit them in a few weeks and hope to go to the exhibit! Enjoy NOLA, and congrats to your husband!!

  5. Bravo Zulu! I didn't you were a Navy wife- me, too! We are in VA, currently. We just moved from Hawaii. We were in San Diego before that and Japan before that! lol Aside from the never-ending job hunt- I love it! It's a special kind of blessing being married to those who serve our country. :)

  6. Congratulations to your husband for that wonderful honor. You and your husband are very special people, it's an honor to follow your blog. Enjoy New Orleans, it's a one of a kind place!

  7. Congratulations to your husband, you must be very proud. I just had to share that I am teaching art classes to kindergarten and first graders this summer and we had fun this week interpreting "Blue Dog". The children had to paint him in different occupations. They loved it!

  8. Love, love, love!! And congrats to your hubby too :). We were just in New Orleans last spring - eating at Cafe du Monde was definitely the highlight for me!

  9. I am soooo happy for both of us! Happy for you and your hubbies accomplishments and happy for me THAT I CAN GET ON YOUR BLOG SITE AGAIN!!! For some reason I could not see your posts and it was soooo sad. I met "Kindergarten Crayons" this past week at the kindergarten conference in Vegas and I heard the book, Pete the Cat, for the first time! What a great week!!! Check out my website at
