Time Me Fluency Station and DIBELS

So... The Time Me! Fluency Station was a BIG hit today.  The students loved using the timer (although the one I had died and I had to grab another one...YIKES!).  Anyhooo... It occurred to me that some of my students would benefit from working on their letter recognition fluency.
Do you have a few that could use some practice?

I can see this as a beneficial practice if your school uses DIBELS as an assessment.

I added word cards for upper and lower case to my TpT FREE download.

  1. This looks great! I would love to use this with my first graders. Maybe we could get together and I could email you a list of words so your center could be for first graders, too? Just a thought!

  2. I'm definitely going to add this to my stations after spring break.
Colleen- for my first graders I think I'll make some rings of decodable words to practice whichever phonics skill we're working on that week, or whatever we need to practice.
    Thanks- keep the ideas coming!

  3. Colleen and Melissa... Love the ideas! Aren't blogs the BEST! Colleen, YES! Send me a list and I whip it out!

  4. Thanks for the idea! I think we'll use a combo of Fry Words and Fry Phrases after Spring Break. I usually have fluency partners time each other reading a passage of text...I'm going to add that too along with a couple of one minute sand timers I have.

  5. Mrs A, I'm glad to hear you mention Fry Phrases. That is perfect for first grade. I may add them to my basket in a few weeks for my kiddos that are ready for a challenge.

All this Spring Break talk is making me JEALOUS! Have a great break!

  6. I tried finding this on TpT. Would love a link to find it.

  7. I am sorry Kelli! I relinked it so you should be able to find it now. Let me know if it does not work.

  8. Great station idea: Create Power Point slideshows with target letters, words, shapes, numerals, etc. Students love running them. For sponge, race your best time. Easy to rearrange order so not memorized. Use for assessment by having in the order of your assessment sheet. Quickly mark and note as student clicks through slides. My word wall words are color coded, so I make the slide backgrounds match the wall. It is cool when first student notices the match and shares info with classmates. :)

  9. Is this no loner a Freebie? I cannot get anything when I click on it. I am a reading specialist and would love this.

  10. Hi Jen... I'm not sure what happened to the link, but I just re-linked it! Sorry, but you should be able to get it now.

This is the second time my link has failed on this product... hmmm? I'm not sure what is going on.
