Word Explorers

We became Word Explorers today!  Using our new form (the students loved the little explorer pictures) we practiced writing , boxing, and cheering the words.
Their favorite activity is cheering the words.

These sticks help us pick the cheers we will do each day...Good fun!

Students added the -at song to their poetry notebook.  Then then circled
the words in the -at family.  I believe there were 24 words.

  1. You have a nice blog! i am now a follower. Could you send me the cheers you use? We cheer our words but new ones would be great! Where did you find the Rat-a-Tat Cat poem? Are there other word family poems like that?
    Thanks

  2. Thank you Ke! My blog is a work in progress.

My cheers are included in my Teachers Pay Teachers file called Work Explorers (click on the link on my page and it should take you there). However, you can download some free ones in my sample pack (also on TpT).

I LOVE the word study poems/songs. Scholastic makes it "Word Family Sing-Along Flip Chart and CD". It comes with 25 songs and the kids LOVE it. I find the flip chart is too small for our shared reading so I copy them onto chart paper.

I'll try to put a link up this weekend.
